Tuesday 2nd August.

Our last day in Hastings. Whilst working at the Top Ten  we meet Richard and Julia Butler who where living in a converted ambulance at the camp. We become friends, and Richard invited John and I to have a look at where he worked at Beacham Jaguar Restorations in Hastings.

He showed us a XT150 and an E-Type Jag, Phantom Rolls Royce all of which are being totalled restored from scratch. Photo's attached.

Beacham's scout the country and world for a body that can be used as a basis for a clients car. Some are found in garages, underneath tarpaulins in farm paddocks etc. Once found the car bodies are shipped to Beacham's in Hastings where the team of 9 staff carefully dismantle the vehicle to ascertain what major structural and rust removal work is required, then go and restore the car from the shell up to the lovely upholstery that is all done on the property.
Thank you Richard for the tour it sure was very interesting. People can go and view what the team does here but you must first ring up and make appointment.

3rd August 2011,

We left Hastings Top 10 for Taupo arrived at Pete and Barbs for coffee at 2.00 . Stayed with them for the night then made our way to Wanganui where we had a lovely evening with Larry and Sue.
Friday night we decided to stay at the Waniu Beach Council camp site . We have stayed here before and fine it a lovely quiet park to stay at ($5.00)a night. The weather was very cold with the waves making it not suitable for a walk along the beach. Saturday morning just a short drive to Waverly where we met up with Jan and worked out what she wanted done on her section. We are going to be here for around a month.
