26 th April 2020

We got a phone call tonight from Gavin who owns Out and About fishing saying they had some large Kahawai caught this afternoon were we interested in some . Silly question yes please we said. We went and collected 3 large fish and they will be smoked tomorrow. This was the view over Albany we passed in the way back to the caravan park .

John had his 66 th birthday whilst we are here in Albany.  Friends Pauline and John decided that they wanted to cook a Greek meal for John. Wow what a spread .

4th May

With the Coronavirus no longer in Albany or Esperance where fortunately there were no cases. We have decided to move onto Esperance where Margaret has got work at Bunnings there .

Our friend Gaven from Out there fishing gave us a call on Saturday night and said he had 6 Kawhai for us. John was all smile's.

3 large baskets of fish waiting to be smoked.

We kept one fish for having as crumbed fish . It was beautiful. The fish melted in the mouth .

We try to go for a walk most days to get some exercise. Todays photos.

Sunset tonight stunning colours from our annex

After having no coronavirus in Albany or Esperance. We decided to get a pass from the police so that we could go to Esperance which is out of the Albany region. It took 24 hours for Margaret to get her pass and Johns for sone reason took nearly a week.  I contacted Tim at Bunnings Esperance and he said arrive whenever you can get here . This was great to hear.

8th May 2020

We left Albany and stopped at Ravensthorpe for the night. We were told that a road block was 6o k past Ravensthorpe for a police check of travellers to make sure they had all the appropriate papers .
Surprisingly we did not see a road block. We parked up the truck and caravan in a rest area and went in the bumblebee to  have a look at  Bremer Bay .We had heard it was a lovely area to visit . From the main road it was 60 k each way. There were lots of many small beaches down there to visit . We arrived in Esperance  at Bushland's Holiday Village  where we will be staying for around 3 months .  The caravan park is only 5 k from the town centre and Bunnings .
I started on the Friday 15th at Bunnings and worked Saturday and Sunday from 9 - 5 each day. Then I had Monday and Tuesday off. My hours  Seem to be Wednesday to Friday 10 - 6 o’clock and Saturday and Sunday 9 - 5  with Monday and Tuesday off. The team here are very friendly and made me most welcome.

My new  Bunnings apron. In Western Australia these Full aprons are used to help keep us warm

A visitor we had at Bunnings this week. A rescue Kangaroo he is 11 month old

The population of Esperance is about 12,000. The draw card for this area are the lovely beaches and excellent fishing. We went into town and found everybody smiling and welcoming. A wonderful relaxing experience.
Found these murals on a wall  whilst we had a look around.

We sure needed our jacket on this morning .The take away coffee we had sure warmed us up.

On my first Monday off we decided to have a look around a few of the local beachs. The sand here is beautiful and white and sqeaks underfoot The water many colours of blue.

John decided  to add to our little garden with some Oregano, leeks, parsley, coriander

We have a tv screen by the information desk here at Esperance which shows customers how much kWh the solar panels on the roof are making during the day. It changes throughout the day .

1st June

A day off work today. A coffee treat in town from Downtown coffee. There is a small hole in the wall 600 by 400 wide  near the police station. You place your order via there app and its ready for you when you get there if you wish or pay cash through the hole. We went for a walk along the esplanade enjoying our coffee.

Many people were fishing off the wharfs around this area and yes catching a few different fish

Not sure what it is but it was in flower love the colours

This photo is of Margaret eldest Brother Bob and His Wife Glenis and their Son Rhys birthday with their family’s . Glenys 31st May , Bob 1st June and Rhys 2 June .

The weather here as been overcast with a lot of showers this last week, so its back to the van and washing time whilst there is a little sun out today.

2nd June

We had to get a roadworthy for the truck today so we dropped it off before our drive . It cost $190.00 And passed ok however they said the front brakepads were worn and would need replacing in the near future so we decided to booked it in for tomorrow to be done. Good brakes are a necessity.  Thank goodness Marg is working at Bunnings for a few weeks.
As it was another day off work for Margaret , we decided to go for another drive this time a little bit further and visit the area of Condingup and the surround beaches. We brought a small container of wedges for lunch and John had a pie from the local tavern  at Condingup. Silly me forgot to take  a photo of the tavern . It had a tiny grocery store inside it for the locals and the caravan park that was 5 k down the road.

We went to Wharton Beach and looked out towards Cornwall Island and York Islands And Duke of Orleans Bay. 160 k we travelled today .It was wonderful seeing the area. Photos below.
