Esperance’s Beaches and wonderful family news

Another beautiful day in Esperance with just a gentle breeze . As Marg is not working today another day for us to go site seeing around the coast and visit a few more beaches.

Driving along to Lucky Bay we look up into the sky and we both see a Kookaburra in the clouds. Yes definitely a photo shot.

                                                                     Lucky bay.

                                                                    Native Shrub in flower

To John and I this looks like the head of dog. It is also known whispering rock. The wind blows through it on the other side of the rock.

Kangaroo’s on Lucky Bay Beach.

This Large scrubbing brush is at the base of the climb to Peak walk .They ask that You clean your shoes before you start your walk so no stray seeds are brought into the area via foot traffic and also  once you have completed the return walk you clean your shoes.

On the 21st June we welcome our second granddaughter Rose Lillian Elizabeth Drury, weight 8lb 3oz . Mum Liz and Dad Ross on cloud nine all doing wonderfully.

On Monday 22nd of June we visited the local group called  Esperance Mechanical Restoration.  What a wonderful place to visit and see the club restore old machinery, tractors and anything that was used in days gone by. Below are some photos of the day.

This drill press and mill drill was made in the late 1890’s.  It is in the process of restoration.

Condingup Pub

We stopped at this pub for lunch on our way home from fishing around Wharton Bay. Sadly no fish was caught but we had a lovely day enjoying the sunshine and fresh air.

We recently brought two camp ovens to use over a open fire. What a wonderful time John has had testing a few meals out with Mark a farmer that has been staying in the park also. First one was pumpkin Stuffed with bacon , mushrooms, onion, sweet potatoes and cream . Then the second night they decided to cook a pork roast with crackling and roast veggies and for desert rhubarb and apple pie , what a feast we had .

These photos were how we got the camp ovens and below is how they looked after John cleaned them with a wire brush and then soaked them in Molasses and water in the below photo

5th July,

Day off work today so it was a good day to visit Stonehenge Esperance.
It is a full size replica of the original “Stonehenge “ in the UK, as it would have looked around 1950BC.

A total of 137 Pink Granite stone were quarried locally in Esperance Western Australia.
The 10 Trilithon Stone in a horseshoe pattern weigh between 30-50 tones each, standing with the 18 tonne lintels to a height of 8 metres. Inside the Horseshoe stand another 19 Blue Stones.
The Trilithon Stone are surrounded by a circle of 30 Sarsen Stones weighing 28 tones each and standing 5 metres high including the 7 tonne lintels on top.
The Alter Stone weighs 7 tonne and lies in front of the tallest Trilithon Stones.
The finish of the stones is achieved with a jet burner which is diesel fueled tool which operates under air pressure from a large compressor. This Gives a very hot flame, very much like an oxy torch. When applied to the stone face , the surface explodes leaving a more natural finish.
The structure is aligned with the summer solstice sunrise in Esperance, where many people from the area visit around the 21st June .

On our way back we called into a locally Brewery which we had heard about from a few locals. We decided as it was lunch time why not stay and have lunch. A pizza and a glass of Thistle Cove Scottish Ale which is made on the property a very tasty Beer it was.

A lovely family photo of Manie, Tania and Maisie. They also just got engaged on the  31st May 2020  Congratulations to two beautiful people. Big Hugs from Mum and Dad.

Anyone for rugby Maisie has her warm hat on and her RedBand  gum boots

Here are a couple of photos of my work team members in Esperance that work with me at the Front register and the Information desk .

Marg and Brett a people greeter  at the front of Bunnings In Esperance

Margaret finished working at Esperance Bunnings on Sunday the 12 th July. We started packing up the caravan already for us to leave on Tuesday after our birthday lunch for Marg . The wind and rain decided to give it its best shot so then we decided we would leave first thing Wednesday morning and drive to Wave Rock which is a good 500 odd kms away. It is not pleasant towing a caravan in the wind and we want to be safe .
