I have been very busy painting Tania and Manie a recipe book folder as a surprise. It took a bit of time contacting people to give me Tania's favourite meal when she visited them for tea etc. Manie's mum kindly gave me some of Manie's favourites recipes where he comes from in South Africa. Then I had to find someone locally to translate them for me . A local teacher who is South African did it for me. Thank you Libby.
John and I looked for a A5 folder everywhere good old EBay came to the party. I painted 6 different sections for her. Just hope she likes it especially with the different recipes from her Nana , Manie's mum and friends.
This year sure has gone very fast.
John and Glen have been very busy making silage this month and did over 160 rounds from 4 paddocks.
I decided to paint as a surprise for each team member at work a Christmas stocking decoration. I tried to personalise each one . The team was very thrilled to get them. It took some a little bit to work out what they meant but once they did it was all smiles and hugs.
John and I found our favourite Christmas mince pies here in Atherton. It made our Christmas nothing
like home made pies especially from New Zealand.
These are made in Tirau for IGA supermarkets.
We spent Christmas Day on the farm with the family, then in the evening we went to John's sister home in Kuranda for a BBQ and a catch up with friends.
I worked Boxing Day at Bunnings until 2 o'clock . Helped top up the traveling pot.
I decided to have a go at painting another Christmas decorations. Here is the completed picture, I was very pleased with it especially when I got over 144 comments about it from a painting site I'm on.
John has been spending time on the truck emptying the back of it and getting it ready for the new shelves etc he is designing.
Happy new year everyone. Do Hope you all have a great 2018 and your wishes come true.
Today we decided to go to Etty Beach Innasfail for a picnic . Leaving at 8 o'clock this morning.

Queensland Garrife's enjoying the sunshine
From here we went to Josephine Falls to see the local popular swimming hole and have our lunch.
After a walk to the falls we then went to Bramston Beach and had a look around this little township.
Here we had our first ice cream for the year and very tasty it was. Marg's was hockey poke and Caramel and John's was Boysenberry.
Then it was time for us to make our way home via the Goldsboroughs area. This was the first time John had been in the area since 1974
Here is a photo John took with his new Samsung phone of Olli doing some ploughing on the farm .
We have had a iPhone for a few years now and John was quite impressed with the clear photos the Samsung took. I think our second phone will be upgraded to a Samsung next time.
When Tania visited us last year we took her to meet a friend of her dads Ross Chapman. Once she saw Ross's calves she asked if there was one called Tania. Ross said no sorry . But this year he had a two year old Hereford minus a name that had her first calf . He decided to call it Tania lol . Yes she is thrilled to bits .
John has been very busy working once again on the truck , making leaps and bounds getting it
Finished.
Next work on the truck is installing the solar panels which is 2 x 250 watt solar panels.
Margaret goes into Cairms hospital on the 8 th February to have her right knee operated on again.
Sadly the operation in NZ two years ago was not successful . We are not sure what they are going to do until they open her knee up . Watch this space.
