Opened up our local paper and this is what I found .
What a fun morning we had at Bunnings Atherton today doing this sausage sizzle as a fund raiser.
24 th Feb
John, Glen and Kathryn have been very busy putting in a new boundary fence along Forrester Road. In between completing this they have been very busy preparing a few paddocks for planting corn etc .
I have been filling in time trying to complete many of my painting projects I would like to complete before we go home for a visit to New Zealand next year .
We have finally heard from cairns hospital regarding my knee operation. I go into cairns base hospital on the 26 th February at 7 am for my knee op. It will be wonderful not to have any pain and sleep through a night without pain.
I finally had my knee operation on the 26 th February. Wow what a day that was . I was first off the rank
as the saying goes. Four hours later that was me done . They did ended up doing a complete replacement of the whole knee . Once they opened the knee up they found a part was so loose it could if fallen out very easily they said and the knee itself was very lose with movement.
I spent 7 days in hospital once home my knee had a reaction to the waterproof dressing. This sure was not good . We were hoping to drive down to Anne and Keith at Lowood near Brisbane for 3 weeks whilst recovering. The surgeon said no way was I allowed to travel they were frightened it could get bad . Yah finally got the clearance from the specialist. We left Malanda on the 23 after storing the caravan down in the shed in the farm just in case a cyclone decided to pay a visit.
Our first night we stayed at Ayr traveling around 740 k for the day stopping often do I could stretch my legs etc.
we had a bit of a laugh on one of our stops. We parked the ute up for lunch in a park and left the tail gate down . We had marked our boxes with a5 paper just so we knew what was in them as they were all the same colour containers.
A lady walked up to our ute and said can I buy some food off you I see you have a food container I believe you are selling stuff for lunch etc. I turned to her and said sorry that is our food and it's not for sale there was a coffee store only 20 meters away where she could buy stuff . Cheeky we thought .
From Ayr we left at 5.30am and drive to Gympie another 800 plus ks . We arrived at Gympie at 5.50pm it sure was a long day .

Keith and John working on Keith's Truck
Thursd 29 th March
Anne and Keith did not have to stay at the Lowood Golf course today as it was a club day. We decided to go and have a look around a few of Brisbane suburbs and do some food shopping.
We found a Truck spare parts wholesaler called Transmile which turned out to be a good thing . John has been looking for petrol lock caps for the truck . $92.00 plus gst each . They said they could get two for us today by 4 o'clock and it was 11 o'clock. What great service they gave, yes they rang
at 4 o'clock and said it was there for us to collect .
From here we went to IKEA a store in Springwood . John and I had not been there before . Wow what a huge store . Plenty of walking following the arrows around for directions to the different sections . We had lunch there in IKEA restaurant . Very tasty fish and chips $7.95 each for lunch .
