Cardwell Rally and more

18th May

This weekend we went to a caravan muster with Tropical Tourers to Cardwell.
We had a very relaxing drive after Marg finished work to Cardwell and stayed at Cardwell Beachcomber Motel and Tourists Park. Would recommend anyone who needed a place to stay when passing through here. .
The caravan is right by the beach . Fabulous for going for a walk in the evening and early morning.
We played outdoor bowls with the locals on Friday night then went to the local hotel for a very enjoy meal . The bonus was we watched the Warriors play against  the Eels , the Warriors won 24 -14.   Go the Warriors. Hopefully they can keep it up for the rest of the season.
Saturday we went for a tour around the back of Cardwell up to the lookout and then drove to the different waterfalls surrounding the area. Photos below .

Our maiden voyage with the truck towing our home to Cardwell . John was very pleased how everything went.

I had the opportunity to attend a painting class takening by Kathy Kelly a artist from Brisbane .
Kathy came up to the Tableland for a holiday and I was lucky enough to persuade her to do a class with Anne , Renel, Shirley, and myself at the farm . We had two days of painting and it was fabulous and learnt heaps . Kathy said that if John and I ever got back to Bald Hill in Brisbane I was to go and do a class with her . This I will do . Photos below of the class and my completed Rose .

11th July ,

We decided to have a few days away and make it a long weekend. Margaret turns 65 on the 14th July. Tropical Tourers   caravan club are having a muster down at Ingham hence a good reason to have a trip to it and celebrate Marg's birthday with a few friends.

We left at 11.30 after Marg had finished work Bunnings stopping at South Johnson rest area for lunch. Whilst we were having lunch we noticed a tyre on the caravan going flat . John removed the tyre and put a new one on it . It was interesting once the  flat tyre came off john noticed it was the original tyre that was on the caravan ,so the tyre was 13 years old . It sure had done a bit of travelling.
This is the second puncture we have had since we have had the caravan in 8 years . Not bad going we
thought.

After getting back on the road from lunch we made our way to Ingham where we are staying at
Palm Tree Caravan Park just south of Ingham. It is a lovely clean and tidy quiet park.

Access to our park was great, a straight drive through.  Great when you are driving a truck and towing the caravan. Very friendly managers.

A friendly ibis came for a visit and wondered around and said hi to all that would talk to it.

We celebrated Marg's 65 th birthday with the Tropical Tourers . We started off the day with a BBQ breakfast and birthday cake .  Then a great night was had having a shared meal for tea .

Happy hour with the club and visitors staying in the camp

Tea at sunset with tee light candles .

On our way home we stopped at the Ingham market in the town centre .

We had a lovely surprise in the post a couple of days ago . A friend of mine from America posted this cute frog for us to hang in our caravan she painted . Thanks Linda Carlson Park John and I both love it.

John suggested to our friend Greg Ryder who enjoys doing up tractors etc to go on a trip like
this. John said if he found a caravan like this he would join him on it with Jimilie and Marg following as a support team with the truck and caravan . I can just see that happening it would be so much fun.

26 th July

Margaret had to see the surgeon again re her left knee this time . Sadly they told her it was bone on bone  this was why she was in pain when sitting down and having difficulties getting up with it locking on her . Another operation within the next 12 months fingers crossed it will be sooner than later .

I had a lovely surprise this morning a customer brought me a cup of coffee . It was at 7.30 am just to say thank you as I always say good morning to them when they are out walking . It made my day .

We had lunch with our friends  from    Toolakea beach ( just north of Townsville )  Bob and Dot they came up to the tablelands for a fortnights holiday at Platapus Park
Our friend Greg Ryder brought a tractor off Bob to do up . The cost of it was two cartons of
Great Northern Larger,  as Greg lives at Woodford Brisbane , John passed it on to Bob .

We recently did a Support the Farmers day at work with a Sausage BBQ to raise money so the farmers can buy hay and water for the cattle and themselves  as the drought is very bad in NSW and other area. We were asked to wear approiate clothing .
